Finding your own voice in Jazz

In this workshop for Drums and Percussion magazine we’re gonna talk about finding your own voice in jazz. In general it’s a good idea to find your own voice in all genres, but jazz in particular because it’s real obvious when you copy someone else. Also it’s just plain impossible to advance in the genre unless you have your own thing going. If you remember in the past workshops we asked bass players j piano players what the most important thing was for Drummers to consider. By far the most common thing they all say Is that a drummer should have his own voice and bring it to the music. So here we are. Enjoy the workshop.
