Here we have my Online Lesson series and some FREE stuff for your enjoyment. I have been very fortunate to recieve requests for lessons from many parts of the world. Since it's impossible to get to everyone, I created this section with lessons that I consider to be very important.

Lesson Plans and "Phil" - osophy :-)
There are many lessons about fills, beats and patterns out there. I wont be doing that since I believe beats, fills and patterns are only 1/2 the battle. Instead I try to focus on things that will give you the knowledge to use your skills in the most creative and musical way possible. I developed all these concepts on clinic tours and while teaching at some of the best music schools in the world, where they were proven "in action" to be most effective.

You've got to Funk a Drei!!
Develop the skill to phrase over the Barline.
Tired of sounding flat? Tired of your ideas and licks? There is a way to expand your vocabulary right away! Through the study of Rhythm! In this lesson we are learning to open up your phrasing and achieve what some of my Students refer to as a "rolling time feel"- More commonly known as playing over the barline.
Rhythm is like a kaleidoscope. When you turn the Kaleidoscope it makes different shapes. Think of rhythm as the shapes you see in the kaleidoscope. As you turn your perspective rhythmically, different cyclic melodies will appear. Rhythmic perspective will determine what melody you are hearing in any cycle. In this case I chose what I call the "3 bar cycle" - This "rhythmic melody" if you will, is pervasive in western drumming culture. Check out this lesson and enjoy!!

The "3" in Jazz / The Rhythmic Pyramid Effect
If you love straight ahead jazz but have trouble playing at all tempo ranges, or would love to understand the vocabulary of greats like Bill Stewart, or would like get your playing to sound more open and flowing, this workshop is for you. One of the questions I get asked constantly is - How do I play loose and not stiff? And of course - How do I play really fast uptempo? I can tell you that technique is only a 1/4 of the battle. This new collection of play alongs is designed and written to work with the Inner clock concept. Each track targets specific subdivisions and grooves. (16th notes, 8th notes etc) In groove settings and ensemble figure settings. Here is what you get. Each track will have:

• An in depth and extensive analysis / breakdown. Complete with all independence and playing concept exercises that you will need for each tune.
• Playing suggestions and tips.
• This is something new! Each track will have different versions. Each version changes in tempo in increments of 5 BPM. So that you can really work out your vocabulary, slow and fast. This gives your grooves a chance sink and and get solid!
